LASIK Alternatives and Other Vision Correction Options

LASIK

A thin flap is created on the surface of the cornea, typically using a femtosecond laser. An eximer laser removes microscopic amounts of corneal tissue to reshape the cornea. The flap is gently repositioned over the treated area. Minimal downtime, quick recovery and long lasting results.

PRK

No flap is created with this surgical procedure. Instead the the surgeon will remove the epithelial tissue using a dilute absolute alcohol solution or eximer laser before reshaping the cornea to meet your prescription needs. This procedure is useful in higher myopic prescriptions with thinner corneas. The downside to this procedure is it does require a little longer healing time.

ICL Surgery

A cutting edge vision correction procedure for individuals who may not be ideal canidates for LASIK or PRK. These lenses are surgically placed inside the eye, providing a long-term solution for prescription needs. The benefits with this procedure as high quality vision, reversible, and suitable for a wide range of prescriptions.

SMILE

An advanced minimally invasive laser eye surgery designed to correct refractive error. A femtosecond laser creates a thin disc shaped piece of tissue, a small incision is made to remove the lenticule. No flap created. Vision improvement noted usually within 24 hours after treatment.
